There is worldly perfection, and there is God’s version of perfection – which is to be like God in all things. This is usually the opposite of what the world says perfection should be.
With worldly perfection, it depends all on us, and we are never fulfilled – even if we “achieve” the perfection we desire or are working towards. It will never really be enough for ourselves or others. And even if we do achieve it, there is always the next thing, the next honor, the next award, the next event, the next opportunity to prove ourselves and our worth.
When we strive for God’s perfection and surrender ourselves to Him, we are always fulfilled because we know perfection does not depend on us – it never will, nor could it.
When we seek God’s perfection, He does the heavy lifting; we only need to say “yes,” and He will give us the grace to do His will. We don’t have to earn His approval or perform better than others to receive His grace.
We don’t necessarily “do”, as much as we receive, and in receiving God’s grace, God perfects us.
We bask in knowing who we truly are – unworthy and sinful on our own accord – and in knowing who God is – He who is true goodness, mercy, and compassion.
In God’s perfection, there is freedom, not slavery. Faith, not doubt. Hope, not despair. Love, not hate.
When we seek God’s perfection, we become who we were meant to be.
And we are free.
May God bless you and keep you in His Heart now and all the days of your life.
